Metroid, released in North America in 1987 for the NES, is an action-adventure game with a sci-fi feel to it. What people may not know is the main character, Samus Aran, is the female protagonist in this game.
Your mission: Guide Samus through planet Zebes while collecting weapons and special attacks along the way as you make your way to the evil Mother Brain to destroy her. The layout of the game is a maze-like structure, where you can get lost very easily. But the fun part about getting lost is all of the hidden items you find along the way. Be careful though because every nook and cranny of this game has enemies ready to sap your energy counter to zero and leave Samus a memory.
This is a very popular NES classic and I suggest anyone to try it out. Believe me when I say that if you can master this game, then the Metroid Prime games become that much easier to master.
